Our Pastor

After being called to preach on August 13th, 1974, Jason Coley immediately began holding cottage prayer meetings in various homes. Less than two months later, he established Independent Bible Baptist Church along with 17 charter members.

During the first five years of his ministry, pastor Coley worked a full time job at Lance Inc. of Charlotte, North Carolina. He was the Assistant Superintendent of the Service Department. After working five years full time and being a pastor, he felt the need to go full time into the ministry. He retired on December 31st, 1979 after 15 years of faithful service at Lance. On January 1st, 1980, he became the full time pastor of Independent Bible Baptist Church (the church he founded).

After 24 years of being a pastor, Pastor Coley earned and received his Doctor of Divinity Degree from Great Commission Bible College and Seminary, Bowling Green, Kentucky. In addition to serving as pastor to our church, Dr. Coley preaches in revivals, conferences, and camp meetings throughout the southeast every year.

Pastor Coley married Brenda K. Nicholson of Pineville, NC on June 30th, 1963. They have two grown sons, Jeff and Todd, and five precious grandchildren. In 2005, they celebrated 42 years of marriage. The pastor's wife has served in many capacities for the church and is presently holding a monthly Bible study for women and teens.
